Service Dog Information and Training

Private Instruction: Basic Obedience, Access Training and Task Training

Options for Service Dog:
I assist in your search for a puppy/dog for service dog training
I evaluate your dog that is already chosen for service dog training

A Labradoodle puppy from my litter "I am the KEY Labradoodles", bred for correct temperment, train-ability and soundness. Packages available; purchasing puppy only or puppy and at your home training

Health Check/ Parents; eyes, hips, elbows, Von Disease, teeth, heart, lungs, ears, correct temperment and train-ability. Current on vaccines and worming.

Health Check/Puppy; I examine all pups; teeth, ears, eyes, lungs, heart, temperment test, vaccine and worming. Pups are raised indoors, observed for behaviors, socialized daily, paper trained, out side potty training started, yard to play in, baths, grooming, and toe nail clipping. Documentation needed for service dog training: A statement from your Doctor supporting your need for a service dog, whether physical or psychiatric:

On physician’s letterhead:

"[Name] is my patient. I am treating him/her for a chronic medical disability. [Name] is asking for a Service Dog to assist him/her in managing this disability, and I support him/her in doing so. It is my professional opinion that having a Service Dog is medically necessary.

Sincerely, [doctor's name]"

Service dog training suggestions:

  1. Obedience training:

Sit, stay, down, come, heel/loose leash walking, off leash recall, leave it, watch me, targeting; touch person/pick up objects,
trained with verbal and hand signal.

  1. Social Skills:

No aggressive behavior, no begging for food, no sniffing of people or merchandise when passing by,
no urinating or defecating in public unless given a command / signal to toilet in an appropriate place.

  1. Disability Related Tasks:

Examples of tasks: Find a person or place, bring medication,
find cell phone/or activate K-9 rescue phone, bring help indoors, provide speech
impairment assistance, arouse from fear paralysis or disassociation spell, dog delivers a
message to a person for assistance, assist to leave area, wakes person up when alarm clock rings

  1. Public Access:

Unloading from a vehicle without distractions, unloading from a vehicle with distractions, approach
a building properly on a loose leash, enter a doorway; manual or automatic door properly, able to ride in elevator, on escalator, loose leash walk through a store, loose leash walk with a shopping cart, boarding
and riding different forms of transportation, enter resturant and lay under table/ignore food/crumbs on floor, enter public restroom and stay with handler in stall, unless no room which a down/stay is given, ascending and descending stairs, off lead recall with distraction, able to walk on a variety of surfaces, down/stay while person steps over, down/stay while child/person approaches, when dog is in down; lightly tuck in tail.
